Meet Our Counselor
Mr. Simmons
My name is Jody Simmons and I am happy to represent the Pasadena Unified School District, a district that has poured into me since I started my academic career. I was born and raised in Altadena. I attended Noyes Elementary, I am a proud Eliot Middle School alum and I graduated from John Muir High School.
After high school, I attended California State University Los Angeles and completed my Bachelor’s of Science degree in Child Development. I have always enjoyed working with youth and during my undergraduate days I worked on-campus for the Upward Bound program, mentoring and supporting youth from local school districts.
After college, I worked for Los Angeles Unified School District, San Gabriel Unified School District and the City of Pasadena. Before entering the graduate program at University of Laverne, pursuing my School Counseling degree. In fall of 2019, I graduate with my Master’s degree in School Counseling with a Pupil Personnel Service credential.
This is my first year as a School Counselor and I am so honored and happy to work at my former middle school…Go Huskies!! I remember walking through these halls as if it were yesterday. What I want my students to know from the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, “ The function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education”.
At home, I am married with 4 beautiful kids. I enjoy playing basketball and watching movies with my family.
