AFRICAN AMERICAN PARENT COUNCIL (AAPC)

Did you know that research shows that when parents are actively engaged in their child’s education, academic outcomes improve significantly? By joining AAPC, you become part of a community that advocates for culturally responsive support, builds partnerships with schools, and ensures that your voice is heard in the decisions that affect your child's success. Together, we can create a learning environment where Black students not only succeed but thrive.

Our Mission

To honor and embrace the identity and experiences of Pasadena Unified School District’s African-American families, advocate for the cultural acceptance of all, and mobilize and engage all stakeholders to transform the system to ensure a high-quality education for every student.

Our Vision

The AAPC consists of parents, teachers, administrators, and community members; its role is to provide support to African American students and families in order to close the academic achievement gap. The AAPC also discusses and makes informed recommendations to the School Site Council (SSC) on the needs of African American students and families.

Building AAPC Together

We are currently in Phase 1, gathering important data to ensure every voice in the community is heard before moving forward. We believe in making informed decisions, and we won’t move to the next steps until we have the full engagement and input of our community members. Together, we can shape a stronger future!
