Thanks to a major donation from Sony Pictures and star actress Cameron Diaz, Eliot Arts received the materials to build nine large raised-bed planters and fill them with organic soil. School staff, parents, Leo's Club members and other students worked hard to construct and fill the beds, under the hands-on direction of PUSD Facilities Supervisor Shirly Barrett - and with help from our community partner, Pasadena Starbucks. The garden is dedicated to beloved former Eliot history teacher, Stephen Scott Buck, who passed away in June 2010.

Students learn to prepare soil and plant, tend, harvest, and prepare or sell organic fruits and vegetables. Our garden is a source of fresh, nutritious produce for our community and the basis for standards-linked hands-on lessons in science, health and nutrition, and the cultural and economic aspects of growing food.
